Remote and On-Site Network Assessments

Network Assessment Project Description: The scope of a Network Stewards' network assessment project is to provide your company with an independent evaluation, analysis and documentation of your entire network (LAN/WAN/ISP) infrastructure and utilization. The network is fully assessed and documented, which can include protocol analysis, bandwidth utilization, network diagrams, IP plans, DNS, hardware/software matrices and network device inventory and configurations. While the majority of a network assessment can be carried out remotely, there are some detailed protocol analysis functions that must be conducted on-site by experienced network assessment engineers.

_ Network Assessment Business Objectives: Because of the critical nature of your company’s network, the network assessment project will be implemented with no downtime and with all business risks known prior to engagement.

The objectives at the business level are:
- To receive an analysis of the production network (LAN/WAN) infrastructure;
- To receive detailed and thorough network documentation that will expedite and enhance troubleshooting, thereby minimizing network downtime;
- To analyze link utilization and protocol analysis with recommendations that will enhance the ability for future network design and optimization.

Deliverables:

- Document and review all network device configurations
- Conduct an inventory of all network hardware
- Observe # ports and VLANs utilized by active devices
- Document devices connected to switch ports
- Document IP address space utilization
- Document and research Cisco OS Versions for bug alerts
- Review configurations for best practices implementation
- Document network security policy issues observed (if any)
